Do you belong to a Clan or a Sept of a clan? Do you have Scottish ancestors, or think you have? Do you want to know more about Scots heritage; the history, the music, songs, the poetry of Robert Burns, novels of Sir Walter Scott, Nigel Tranter and many more famous Scots from all walks of life? The Scottish Society is a social group who enjoy good company and a common interest in Scotland and all things Scottish. A Tea and Open House will be held at the Nagel Warren Mansion on April 9th, to celebrate Tartan Day April 6. In August, the annual picnic is held, the picnic this year will be August 13, 2011 at the Wyoming Hereford Ranch, and will be a Dutch Oven Dinner at a cost of $6.00 per person. The Highland games in Estes Park, Colorado are held the weekend after Labor Day. If you want to see kilts, dancers and hear pipe bands, that's the place to go. In November, a dinner is held to Celebrate St. Andrew the Patron Saint of Scotland. Pipers, dancers and singers entertain. This year's dinner will be held at The Historic Plains Hotel, on November 12, 2011. The menu will consist of Roasted Herb Stuffed Chicken Breast with Garlic Jus, Wild Rice Pilaf, Fresh Sautéed Vegetables, Tossed Salad, and New York Style Cheesecake with Pumpkin Sauce and Whipped Cream. January celebrates the birthday and life of Robert Burns, with pipes, Haggis, songs, and poetry, the Burns Supper will be held at The Historic Plains Hotel, Cheyenne on January 22, 2012. The menu will consist of your choice of Grilled Salmon with Sweet Corn Sauce or Sliced London Broil with Wild Mushroom Sauce, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Fresh Sautéed Vegetables, Tossed Salad with choice of dressing, and Black Forest Trifle with Cherries and Whipped Cream. COST OF PICNIC AND DINNERS IS PREPAID WITH RESERVATIONS.
