The Southeast Wyoming Pipe Band
We are the first pipe band in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The band was organized November of 2004, when four bagpipe enthusiasts and members of the Scottish Society of Southeastern Wyoming: Tim Carroll, Dana Anderson, Bob McLelland, and Raymond Nelson got together to plan a future pipe band in Cheyenne. The first practice took place at the premises of the Tim Carroll.
The Southeast Wyoming Pipe Band was formed to help promote the Celtic arts and culture through concerts and educational programs. The main focus is on the great Highland bagpipe, the use of tartan, and traditional Scottish and Irish music. The group is available for parades, parties, school concerts and wedding and funeral music.
Tim Carroll, a former member of the Ft. Collins Pipe Band in Colorado, organized the group. He became intrigued by the pipes after hearing the Mass Bands at the Scottish Irish Highland Festival in Estes Park, Colorado. He started playing then joined the Ft. Collins Pipe Band, and finally achieved his dream when he started this group.
"I really like performing on the pipes and it's a lot more fun when you have a group to perform with. I was getting tired of the drive from Cheyenne to Colorado so I thought I would start something here in Cheyenne."
The band first performed for the public at the Scottish Society of Southeastern Wyoming Robert Burns Supper in January of 2005.
The objectives of the Southeast Wyoming Pipe Band are: To promote and encourage education in the culture and advancement of piping, drumming and pipe band music; To create and maintain a bond of fellowship with all pipers and drummers, and To maintain a pipe band of high caliber for performance throughout Southeast Wyoming.
