Goffena Appaloosas
History
We
have been raising registered appaloosas since 1977 when we bought
an appaloosa mare and stallion from Army Armstrong of Coffee
Cup Appaloosas. We then started to show and the quest
was on for better halter horses. We purchased Roman Duke
in 1978 and he filled our trophy cases with wins in Colorado,
Wyoming & Montana. We soon were showing foals by Duke
and winning with them. We still have 2 granddaughters
of him. We then purchased a stallion from Sheldak Ranch
named Mighty David. We used him about 6 years and have
retained 6 daughters in our brood mare band. Next we traded
Donna Fanyak out of her few-spot stallion we named Vigilante
Mac. He was out of her prized Victoreo. He was the
start of our Vigilante line we are using today. We enjoyed
3 years of 100% color with Mac. He was throwing beautiful
foals with huge hips and wonderful dispositions, but his breeding
career was cut short by a broken leg. Right after he died
we lost our prized show and brood mare Dandy Tommissy also,
leaving us with Mac's last foal to raise an orphan. This
foal is Vigilante Justice and is our main herd sire today.
We also used & have retained breeding services to Silver
Britches K., a few-spot also and a state halter champion himself.
We also used the stallions Vigilante Kid and B.C. Bright Tradition
for 2 years while waiting for Justy to grow up. We have
raised most of our broodmares. A few years ago we started purchasing
some breeding stock from Pat & Anne Gerhardt. As of July
2002 we have purchased or leased 8 Mighty Shield daughters.
In 2002 we are starting to use Oreo Britches as our junior herd
sire. Our son Curt & his wife Tania own some of our horses.
Our son Craig maintains this website for us. Craig's wife Kisheena
is just learning to ride this summer. Grandchildren, James,
Lucas, Elizabeth, Isabel and Hannah are also learning to ride & seem
to love it. We'll be filling the leadline classes in 2001.

Goffena Appaloosas Goals
Our goal is to raise quality registered appaloosa foals with
disposition, comformation and color. We hope these foals
will go on to have the ability and looks to compete in halter
or performance or just make a nice family or trail horse.
We do not advertise our stallions for outside breeding as we
do not have the facilities for handling many outside mares.
We do take outside mares occasionally if we can work out a convenient
time with the mare owner. If you are interested in breeding
contact us and we will see what we can do.
