Helena resident Dal Smilie recently presided over
the Grand Opening of the American MotorcycleHeritage Museum in -Westerville,
Ohio. Smilie, a Helena attorney, is the chairman of the board of
the museum. Smilie addressed the 'crowd of approximately 7,000 people
along
with other dignitaries.
Dignitaries present at the grand opening included Jay Leno, noted motorcycle
enthusiast and frequent substitute for Johnny Carson, and Robert Forbes,
son of the late Maleom Forbes. Malcom Forbes was to have been the -guest
of honor until his untimely death.
The event was covered by the three : Columbus TV stations, "Entertainment
Tonight", and the National Public Radio's "Morning Edition." Initial
exhibits included "Women in Motorcycling" and "Decades -of Development." The
museum plans to change the exhibits at least annually. Westerville is a northern
suburb of Columbus, Ohio. The museum is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
and admission is free.
