The Chicks Run
|
In Wyoming, the
Chick's Run is held the 3rd weekend in June, since 2002.
It is a Women Only
motorcycle rally that kicks off in in Casper, Wyoming on Friday
evening. Saturday morning a large group of women riders
assemble at the Honda dealer in preparation for the police-lead parade
through the streets of Casper to the Interstate. We, then
ride from Casper to Kaycee, Wyo and on to Buffalo for lunch.
After leaving Buffalo, everyone gathers for a group photo shot in a
large pull off near Story, Wyoming. All along this trek, we draw
cards for a poker hand with prizes awarded in Sheridan, Wyoming, later
Saturday evening.
Saturday afternoon,
the photographer sets up at Caboose Park to do individul photos for
rally participants.

The Chick's Run 2002, I have very few pictures of .
I left early Sat morning and rode by myself to Buffalo, where I
met up with the group of women. I noticed two bikes that had
Billings plates, but I did not get to meet them until Saturday evening,
when I staked out one of the Montana bikes until the rider showed up.
Come to find out, there were 3 other gals from the Billings area.
We rode back together and have beens friends ever since.
The 2003
Chicks Run I have documented with a story and pictures on the
story page.
Below are some of the pictures of the 2004 Chicks Run

On
Thurs, June
17, Brenda, Ester, Olivia and I met at Bad Boys Cycle. It had not
started to rain, yet, but we knew it was going to. The four of us would
be riding to Fort Rockvale to meet with Denise. As we pulled out,
Brenda in the lead, Ester behing her, then Olivia and I pulled up the
rear. As I turned onto the freeway, I gave the bike a little too
much throttle I guess. The bike came around and began to slide
wheels first down the on ramp. Olivia looked up to see her mother
sliding down the on ramp. She could not get her bike stopped fast
enough. She came runnig up the freeway, "Are you ok?" I was
fine, but I noticed the ramp was so very slick. Maybe some one
had boiled over their antifreeze. It was so slick, I was having a
hard time standing up. A young man stopped, "Are you ok?"
The brake lever had the end broke off, the engine guard again saved
this bike. And me. No part of my body had touched the
pavement while I was sliding down the ramp. When it came to a
stop, I put my butt down and stood up. We got the bike up, I got
on it and Olivia and I got going.
The other two did not know that we had stopped. We caught up to
them on the off ramp in Laurel. The rain had started.
Brenda's rain gear was dumping water into her boots. We added
more of the rain gear and headed for Fort Rockvale. The five
of us rode in the rain, 43 degrees, to Belfry where we stopped for
lunch. We were cold and wet. Brenda's boots had filled up with water.
We found bread sacks for her feet along with dry socks and she felt
better for awhile. We were headed for Thermopolis, WY. That was only
135 more miles from our lunch stop. We spent the night at the Plaza Inn
the Park and enjoyed the hot mineral waters.
On Friday, we got up to
more rain, we rode to Casper. There were two groups gals that had rode
from Billings to Casper on Friday. That made 14 of us from Billings
there for the kick off events. We all had rode in cold wet conditions.
Saturday started off cool, but dry. It turned into a nice day for the
poker hand ride to Sheridan, WY. |
